A little clip of Porgi, amor from Mozart's Le nozzle di Figaro - recorded at York Unitarian Church back in December 2023.

This is one of those pieces that means a lot to me. It's been a key part of my repertoire for years, but I've had to work through a lot of technical stuff from old training to feel comfortable singing it again.

I'm still unravelling and rebuilding - it's not perfect (perfectionist here 🙋🏻‍♀️). But this performance was a turning point. For the first time I felt I could focus on the music and the story instead of wrestling with technique.

Still a work in progress - but I'm learning to love the process, too 💛

🎶 After far too long away from performing, I decided it was time to dive back into what I love most-singing and performing! ✨

Last Thursday, I attended my first rehearsal with the incredibly welcoming Fermanagh Choral Society where we started working on two stunning pieces: Faure’s Requiem and Howard Goodall’s Eternal Light: A Requiem. ❤️

It feels full-circle to revisit Pie Jesu from Faure’s Requiem, which I performed as a soprano solo with Newark Choral Society way back in 2012. This time, I’m loving the chance to sing as part of the choir and explore the beautiful choral parts. 🎵

As for Eternal Light: A Requiem, it’s completely new to me, but I’ve been listening to it over Christmas, and I’m already in love. 💕

Here’s to a fresh start for the new year, reconnecting with my passion, and embracing it the joy of performance again.

OMG, this is so embarrassing but also kind of amazing! 😅 While traveling recently, I stumbled upon an old video from a performance back in 2016. I couldn't believe what I saw! My posture was... well, let's just say my singing teacher had her work cut out for her.

I remember being so confused at first because no other teacher had ever mentioned my posture and I had no idea how important it was for singing. Over the past decade, I’ve been on a journey to improve it. From seeing a chiropractor regularly, practising the Alexander Technique, to consistent exercise and using a mirror to correct my habits – let me tell you, it's been quite the journey! 🎤✨

Improving posture has made such a difference in my voice’s efficiency and resonance. I'm continuously striving for improvement, but every step forward (and backward) has been well worth it. 💪

I’d never heard of vulnerability and never really thought much about how it could be relevant to me and my mindset as a performer.

Intrigued, I wanted to know more so recently I started reading her book #daringgreatly. I’m only 83 pages and WOW!!! Game changer!

According to the #musiciansunion 38% of musicians are not entitled to either the SEISS or furlough schemes. And many of these haven’t worked for a year now.

The UK government needs to do more to support and save the arts for future generations. Do you agree?
